‘I have a blog, I’m on Facebook, etc. So… do I really need an email list?’
The answer, unequivocally, is YES!
I could write for days about the many reasons this is true. Here are three of the biggest:
1. It’s PUSH Marketing!
In all likelihood, all of the other marketing you do is ‘pull’ marketing. In other words, you place your marketing piece in a particular place (blog, Facebook, etc.) and hope your customers and prospects go to the site (are pulled in) to check it out.
Email marketing, on the other hand, is ‘push‘ marketing. That is, you’re pushing the marketing piece in front of them, no matter where they are. As a result, sooner or later, a much higher number of your customers and prospects are going to see it, and, subsequently, take whatever action you’re suggesting in the message.
Not taking advantage of this push marketing channel means you’re leaving a LOT of money on the table!
2. It’s Your Best Chance For Monetization
Email marketing will allow you to generate revenue as no other! Seriously… the response rates really are that much higher!
In addition to the fact that a higher percentage of people will see your e-mail and take action than see your blog posts, etc. (see above), people just respond to calls to action in e-mails more readily because they feel like you’re speaking to THEM, rather than the masses. (see below)
3. It Allows You To Get Personal
Having an e-mail list AND using it properly allows you to build the type of personal relationship with your prospects and customers you would be hard-pressed to do otherwise.
For example, if you’re using a solid e-mail list management system (like AWeber), you’re able to do things, like:
- send different messages to your prospects than you do to your customers
- send follow up e-mails to subscribers who opened a particular message you sent
- send a personal message to a subscriber who hasn’t opened any of your e-mails for some time
Implementing this type of segmentation allows you to build up a personal bond you simply couldn’t do anywhere else. And the better your relationship with your list members, the stronger your list!
Starting and growing an e-mail list is a commitment. However, the return on investment you get for your list building and e-mail marketing efforts is well worth it!
